SEF First Aid Assistance is a Nationwide First Aid training provider based in Halifax, we provide First Aid training to adults and also children through our partner company Flat Stan First Aid.

Our head office is in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and we have trainers located across the UK. We offer individuals, childcare providers, companies and other organisations a range of First Aid courses. 

Simon Ferris, the director of the company, developed the national and international award-winning Flat Stan First Aid for children which has introduced over 120,000 children to First Aid across the UK and abroad.

Our trainers are ensured to continually assess all practical and theoretical activities with encouragement and support guaranteed.

We recently had the privilege once again of visiting Deaf EXperience (DEX) at the Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People. They campaign nationally to improve access to education, wellbeing and quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing young people. After delivering two successful first aid courses to their staff and volunteers, we received the following comments:

First visit

"Simon from SEF provided Deaf EXperience with emergency life-saving training, including how to use a defibrillator, responding to severe allergic reaction and performing CPR. Our staff team and volunteers are all deaf, with the majority using British Sign Language as their first language.

The use of visual aids, for example, to show what happens when someone chokes was really helpful and accessible. Simon’s delivery style was perfectly paced, factoring in regular rest breaks and being mindful of working with a BSL interpreter. He was friendly, personable and had the group laughing on a regular basis even though the topic content was serious. Simon’s knowledge was clear, answering a range of detailed questions with ease and providing lots of context about how and why decisions are made. It was great to learn of his passion for ensuring lifesaving aids such as defibrillators are fully accessible for deaf people. He reinforced throughout that the training was all about confidence and all participants certainly came away feeling more confident. Thank you!"

Second visit

"We would just like to say a great big thank you to Simon and his team for delivering a bespoke first aid course to DEX and the Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People. DEX staff really enjoyed their two-day course and said it was the best course they have done in a while and that the trainer was brilliant.

Simon was brilliant with the students and very visual when delivering his demonstrations, which is very important for deaf people. They felt very involved and included within the training. A course aimed at those who work in a lower risk environment. It covers major incidents and accidents that could arise where there is minimal risk.

First Aid at Work

This course is for First Aiders in a higher risk environment. It covers more topics and situations than the Emergency First Aid at Work course.

Paediatric First Aid

Courses suitable for those who work in schools, nurseries as childminders, or those who just wish to have the skill to offer First Aid to children.

First Aid for Mental Health

Anyone can be affected by poor mental health. It is important that employers and employees can recognise the signs of poor mental health and offer support.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is how we can protect children, young people or vulnerable adults from abuse or neglect by the actions or inaction of another person.

Canine First Aid

This course gives dog owners and dog professionals the confidence to act in an emergency situation. The sessions cover basic life saving and first aid techniques.
