We were delighted to return to Future Horizons Leeds yesterday to deliver another interactive first aid workshop for their learners.
Future Horizons Leeds is a specialist post-19 college and social care day provision supporting adults with complex learning and communication needs. Our session focused on essential first aid knowledge and life-saving skills, helping learners build confidence in recognising emergencies, knowing when to seek help, and understanding the importance of staying calm in challenging situations.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the visit was hearing how much information learners had retained from previous sessions. Seeing participants recall key first aid messages demonstrates the lasting impact that accessible, engaging first aid education can have.
Following the workshop, the team at Future Horizons Leeds shared the following feedback:
"Flat Stan did some fantastic work with our students today at Future Horizons Leeds on another incredibly engaging visit. We were amazed at how much information about CPR and first aid our students had retained from the last visit, with newer students highlighting they could remember key facts like calling 999 in case of an emergency and staying calm when worried or unsure. Some of our wheelchair users have since followed up on the educational visit and looked into attaining emergency alarms and buttons to be available on their chair so they could help in any way they can."
We were particularly encouraged to hear that some learners have taken the initiative to explore emergency alarms and call buttons for their wheelchairs following our previous visit. This demonstrates exactly what our workshops aim to achieve: empowering individuals with the confidence and knowledge to help themselves and others in an emergency.
